I love writing about plants gardens and landscapes as much as I love to garden, it’s an obsessive compulsion. The verb ‘to garden’ means so much more than mere physical activity. To make gardens is to grow a relationship with the natural world and to build a philosophy of life.

Garden making is a physical expression of our relationship with the land and its inhabitants. And, because of our awareness of our complicity in the destruction of the natural world, our gardening and its culture is now at the very heart of how we chose to respond to the environmental crisis. Writing about this, sharing experience, knowledge, fear and triumphs, is more vital than ever before.

I am currently writing a book about nature-led gardening and would welcome commissions for magazine articles and opinion pieces.
